Important - Read this before proceeding

These instructions reflect a task our writers previously completed for another student. Should you require assistance with the same assignment, please submit your homework details to our writers’ platform. This will ensure you receive an original paper, you can submit as your own. For further guidance, visit our ‘How It Works’ page.

Using the link below, please read the article (see below) titled “Does the Civil War Matter: A Roundtable Discussion” a Muse Project article.
Module 5 Reading Discussion Article – 1305.pdf
Then read the instructions below to complete the assignment.
These will contain two parts. First you must answer ONE of the questions using multiple sentences. Your answers should be at least 200 words. This will be worth 2 points. Second you must complete 2 peer reviews using the rubric attached to the assignment (each peer review is 1 point).
Please see the section titled Peer Reviews as it will have more information.
In the announcement made earlier, I provided 3 links that will provide some help on Peer Reviews. You should need no sources to answer these questions. You are encouraged to use your textbook and the PowerPoints I have posted. If you use just the textbook or PowerPoints no citations are needed or expected. However, if you use an outside source (ex. textbook, website, YouTube video, etc. …), you will need to include a Chicago footnote citation.
As it is only fair to reward going above and beyond, you can earn extra credit by completing the items below. There will only be a maximum of 5 extra points that can be earned. You can only earn the extra credit if steps 1 and 2 are completed above.
0.5 point of extra credit for each outside source cited properly in Chicago Writing Style.
0.5 points if you choose to provide a response to a post directly IN ADDITION to the peer reviews.
2 points for any extra questions that you answer that meet criteria (200 words). This assignment, like all other assignments, will affect your participation grade. If you choose not to do them you will lose the points from not doing the assignment as well as the points from your participation grade. Just a heads up this assignment is important just like all your assignments. In what ways does the Civil War continue to shape modern conversations about race, citizenship, and identity in America? Consider the perspectives shared by Kerri K. Greenidge on Black emancipation and the ongoing struggles African Americans face today.
How might the Civil War have impacted the development of political and social structures in the American West, including Indigenous communities? Megan Kate Nelson’s discussion of the Pacific Coast and the Homestead Act could serve as a basis for examining these far-reaching impacts.
How does public interest in the Civil War reflect regional or political divides in the U.S.? Drawing on Yoni Appelbaum’s observations, discuss whether this historic event resonates differently across regions or political ideologies today.
Is the study of the Civil War overly centered on the South, and if so, how might we broaden our historical understanding of this period? Reflect on Adam I. P. Smith’s point about viewing the Civil War through a national and even global perspective, beyond Southern narratives.
What role do personal stories play in communicating the significance of the Civil War to modern audiences? Explore the panel’s consensus on the importance of individual experiences, like those of Black soldiers and families, as a means of making historical events relatable and impactful.
