Complete a one-page research poster about a research topic of your choice. YOU DO NOT CONDUCT THE RESEARCH FOR THE ASSESSMENT FOR THIS MODULE AS IT IS A PROPOSAL ONLY.
Topic Guidance:
– Importantly, think about areas to investigate from your other modules across marketing, human resource management, data analysis, business and society etc…
– The topic should ideally be a specific business and management topic related to a literature gap. You can identify a research gap by reviewing relevant research and looking at their directions for future work.
– Remember this is an opportunity to be creative and develop a unique business and management research idea.
STRUCTURE OF THE POSTER:
– PLEASE KINDLY FOLLOW THE BELOW STRUCTURE AND NOT THE STRUCTURE OF THE EXAMPLE POSTERS:
– PLEASE KINDLY DO NOT ADD A FINDINGS OR IMPLICATIONS SECTION AS THIS IS A PROPOSAL OF WORK
Title:
A few words summarising your research topic
1. Research Questions and Objectives:
(i) a list of research questions and objectives linked to your topic (consider 1-3 relevant questions and related objectives). In this section, you can add relevant hypotheses (if your research uses a quantitative/mixed method design).
– This section is worth 10% (around 100-110 words).
– Please note that you do not need to justify the research questions and objectives
– You do not need citations in this section unless they are relevant
– Please also note you do not need an introduction section and you can start the poster with the research questions and objectives
2. Literature Review:
(ii) the key points from your literature review (you need to state what the key literature states in the field and what is the research gap as based on your review of works)
– A review of at least 10 sources of literature.
– It is recommended to use a mixture of sources including journal articles. ABS journal articles can be valuable sources. However, if your topic is not published in such journals, then the use of other journal articles will suffice.
– The sources can include current research within the last few years as well as more historic works (if relevant)
– Remember to endeavour to be critical in this section by making connections between groups research.
– This section is worth 30% (around 200-220 words).
3. Methodology:
(iii) the selected proposed methodological design and analysis you will choose (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods) with a justification for why the approach is suitable (consider whether the methods are valid or reliable). You can choose between primary and secondary research methods (any approach suitable as long you justify it e.g you can use both primary and secondary analysis if suitable or you can choose one only). You will need to include if you will have a sample and justify the sampling approach if you are using a primary research method.
– Any methodology is fine to use as long as you justify it effectively
– Please note that you will note you will not actually conduct the research this term as it is a proposed methodology
– Please include citations from textbooks and journal articles to justify your approach
– This sub-section is worth 30% (around 200-220 words).
(iv) any ethical considerations relevant to your study (worth 10%)
– This sub-section is worth 10% (around 100-110 words)
– This includes any ethical considerations about your research, for instance, if you are conducting primary data collection, you will need to state how you will obtain consent, and brief and debrief participants. If you use secondary data analysis – any ethical considerations about the data sets must be mentioned in this section. You can also mention any other risks associated with your study if there are any.
4. Reference List:
(v) reference list using the Harvard referencing system (the reference list is not included in the total word count) and should fit in the one page. You should aim to include at least 10 references for the poster and you will be awarded for using higher quality references. (worth 10%).
– The textbox for your reference list can be smaller in size so it fits on one page
The final 10% of your marks will be attributed to your written style (grammar, overall flow) and overall presentation (structure, and imagery).
Templates and Measurements:
In terms of templates, you can use Canva, Microsoft PowerPoint etc to design your poster.
The measurements should fit one page (please do not go beyond one page). This can be A4 or a standard PowerPoint Size.
The poster can be vertical or horizontal.
You can also use imagery to bring the content to life.
Please use a suitable font size and bullet points throughout your poster across sections.
