The purpose of this paper is to assess the factors that contributed to the various types of intelligence you possess. As we learned in class, intelligence can be categorized into a wide variety of different “types” – each of them with different strengths and origins. This paper will use Gardner’s multiple intelligence theory, which specifies nine different types of intelligence: existential, linguistic, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, spatial, inter-personal, intra-personal, logical-mathematical, and naturalistic.
Answer these questions for each type of intelligence. You need to give several examples for each bullet point. You should describe:
What environmental factors helped you develop this type of intelligence throughout your life Ex. what factors in your childhood pushed you towards or away from this type of intelligence?
Ex. Did your parents specialize in one of these types of intelligence? Any skills or knowledge you might have related to that type of intelligence – where do you excel with each type
Where is this type of intelligence most helpful in your day-to-day life? What could you do to grow this type of intelligence? Afterwards, answer these following questions about all of the types, together:
Rank them in order of strength – which is your strongest, all the way to which is your weakest
Describe which one you value the most, and why
If you could master one type of intelligence overnight, which one would it be, and why?
Not every intelligence type will be represented equally in your life! You might rarely use the logical-mathematical type, but constantly use the inter-personal type. Just be sure you give as much detail as you can (e.g., if you don’t use a type of intelligence, explain why).
As a note, we didn’t go into much detail on this specific topic, so you might have to do some outside research in order to find things like examples of each type of intelligence. Be sure to include a References page with APA citations for any outside sources you used for this assignment. Document formatting details:
