Instructions for Field Learning Essay
Each participant will make a field visit to a pastoral care ministry site of a type that is unfamiliar to her/him and reflect on its implications for pastoral theology and care. The principal purpose of this assignment is to practice/demonstrate an increase in your skills of observation and capacity to do pastoral theological care reflections on your observations.
Method:
I. Choose a field location that is unfamiliar to you. It may be one that challenges your comfort level or sparks your interest. You may choose, for example, to visit prisons, mortuaries, police stations, specific kinds or areas of hospitals, shelters (for homeless, battered women, and children), senior care centers, or high schools, among other possibilities
