Apply one of the three deviance theories (labeling, power elite, or social disorganization theory) to the deviance example from #1.
To do this, explain the theory and then discuss how we can use the theory to understand the deviance example. For example, if you choose labeling theory, who would be the person or the group doing the labeling, and who would be the person being labeled? If you choose power elite theory, who are those in power in the story, and how are they using their power? If you choose social disorganization theory, why does that community have weak social relationships and a lack of sanctions?
Discuss at least one personal experience of receiving a positive sanction or negative sanction. Did this sanction change your behavior in any way? Did you consider yourself deviant in this situation?
