Please read the following discussion (PCO Question) and provide Response (75-100 words). Cited per APA (7th ed) to the comment that was made to the discussion post using scholarly references from the last five years only. I also attached the rubric for your reference.
PCO Question:
In young adults aged 30-50 years old (P), how does compliance with diabetic medications (I) compared to non-compliance with treatment (C) affect disease progression and prognosis (O)
The above PICO question can be categorized as an intervention question, as evidenced in the text (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2022). The rationale for this choice is premised on the fact that the question talks about the efficacy of diabetic medication. In this case, the PICO question concerns the treatment’s impact on the chosen population regarding disease progression and prognosis.
The ideal sources for this kind of PICO question are peer-reviewed journals. The information must be credible and endorsed by accredited institutions and medical professionals. Additionally, most peer-reviewed sources are often based on actual studies conducted to test hypotheses related to the research questions (Munten et al., 2010). Some other sources that would be used as evidence are articles from accredited databases like the NHS. Academic institutions also have their databases with articles from different disciplines.
The best level of evidence for this PICO question is a well-designed controlled experiment to retrieve accurate findings. The experiment will have a sample population aged between 30 and 50. It is vital to separate the sample size into two groups: one that will administer the diabetic medication and a control experiment that will not be under any treatment. A controlled experiment will ensure that the expected results are realized in the end.

The comment on the PCO question:
Patients can better manage their diabetes symptoms when they adhere to their individualized treatment plan. I think your PICO question is relevant to this population; even though a diabetes diagnosis can happen at any age, as patients get older, it increases the likelihood of them developing other co-morbidities due to diabetes (Nanayakkara et al., 2021).
Peer-reviewed journals that provide the results of cross-sectional surveys and systematic reviews would provide credible sources of information to answer your proposed PICO question (Soyoon & Ekaterina, 2022).
