Instructions:
Students are required to complete a capstone project at the conclusion of the course. This
project should summarize the student’s understanding of the sociological perspectives and
reflect on which perspective aligns with their world view. This project also asks students to
commit to encouraging social change through a topic of their choice.
Details:
• Submit EITHER a 5-minute video or a 4-page essay. You have the choice of doing an
essay or a video, so you can choose the format that serves you the best. If you choose to
make a video, you can either be on camera or do a voiceover, however we must see or
hear YOU in the video.
• Whether an essay or video, you must include the following information:
o What are the 3 sociological perspectives?
o Which perspective aligns with your world view? Why?
o What are 3 ways that you see your perspective in societal issues?
o What social change can you champion and how?
• Students must use at least 2 sources in their project and cite these. One of these may be
the textbook or readings from the class.
• Students must demonstrate an understanding of how their world view impacts how
they see social issues and social justice.
• Students must choose one real-life way that they can contribute to moving society
forward or encouraging social change.
